2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards en route from the docks during the General Strike, May 1926

In May 1926 the British Government used troops to break the strike at the London Docks to ensure the supply of food to the capital. The Grenadier Guards shown in this picture marching in force, watched by large crowds, are armed with rifles and are wearing steel helmets.
