Indian Officer, Bengal Army, 1805 (c)
Watercolour on European paper, by a Company artist, Lucknow, 1805 (c).
This Indian officer wears gold rather than white beads around his neck, and trousers rather than shorts, showing that he is a senior officer. The artist has added a background to increase the painting's appeal to the British market; it is absent in other known versions of this figure.
