An original roneo copy of 'The Complete Folbotist' by Captain Roger Courtney, 21 August 1941
Courtney founded the Special Boat Section and this document was written by him on board HMS 'Medway' in Alexandria 'from experience and for the benefit of aspiring Folbotists'. A serving Commando officer, Courtney had earlier been a professional big game hunter in East Africa and canoed the length of the White Nile. His new unit used folding canoes (or folboats) in a number of small-scale raids against railways, port facilities and airfields in Scandinavia and the Mediterranean.
From a collection of papers, mainly reports and accounts, relating to Army Commandos, World War Two 1939-1945.
