Assistant Surgeon Christopher Bakewell Bassano and family, 1850 (c)

Christopher Bakewell Bassano (1824-1856) joined the 70th (The Surrey) Regiment of Foot as an assistant surgeon on 22 December 1848. He was appointed a staff surgeon, 2nd class on 10 August 1855 whereupon he travelled to the Crimea. He died at Balaklava on 1 February 1856.
