German prisoners, Tsingtao, November 1914

The German naval base of Tsingtao (Qingdao) in China was captured by the Allies on 7 November 1914 following a two month siege. Around 4,700 Germans were captured and sent on to Japan for internment.

From an album of 24 photographs presented to Brig Gen, later Maj Gen, Nathaniel Walter Barnardiston.
