Crimean War Medal 1854-56 awarded to Major Arthur Maxwell Earle , 57th Regiment
Earle (1832-1863) was commissioned as an ensign into the 57th (West Middlesex) Regiment of Foot in January 1850, rising to the rank of captain in December 1854. He served during the Crimean War (1854-1856) as aide-de-camp to Brigadier-General Thomas Goldie, and later as a Brigade Major in the 4th Division. His campaign medals bears the clasps for Balaklava, Inkermann and Sebastopol.
