Spectacles used by a British sniper, 1916 (c)
Snipers were a constant menace to soldiers in the front line and took a steady toll of men on the Western Front. The right eye of these spectacles has a range of different aperture settings. They were not standard issue equipment but would have been purchased by the sniper.
