Major General (later Lieutenant General) Sir Herbert Belfield, 1910 (c)

Herbert Belfield was first commissioned into the Royal Munster Fusiliers in 1876 and saw service in the 4th Ashanti War in 1895. During the South African War (1899-1902) he was Inspector General of the Imperial Yeomanry. He subsequently commanded 4th Infantry Brigade and was General Officer Commanding 4th Division from 1907. He retired from the Army in 1914, but served as Director of Prisoner of War work during the First World War. He died in 1934.
