The Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps (QARANC) serve in military hospitals and on British Army operations all over the world. First established in 1902 as Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service (QAIMNS) (changing their name to QARANC in 1949) they have served in the Malayan Emergency (1948-1962), Korea (1950-1953), the Falklands conflict (1983), the Gulf War (1990-1991), Bosnia (1992-1992) and Afghanistan.
