Celtic plaid brooch taken from the body of a Sinn Féin rebel, 1916
This silver brooch was obtained by Lieutenant M S Payne of the Lincolnshire Regiment during the 1916 Easter Rising in Dublin. Its owner was one of 64 men from the Irish Volunteers and Irish Citizen Army killed during the revolt. Another 16 rebels were executed by the British.
