Beret, other ranks, Royal Hong Kong Regiment (The Volunteers), 1990 (c)
Wool beret with black, plastic headband and black cotton poplin lining. Anodised metal beret badge with two dragons facing each other upon a scroll bearing the Latin motto, 'Nullis Secundis Oriente', surmounted by a monarchial crown, on a green wool cloth diamond.
The Royal Hong Kong Regiment (The Volunteers) was an auxiliary force dating back to 1854. It was financed by the Hong Kong Government, but served under the Commander of British Forces in a home defence and internal security role. The regiment was disbanded in 1995 prior to the handover in 1997. The motto on the badge, 'Nulli Secundus in Oriente', translates as 'Second to None in the East'.
