Side drum, 2nd Battalion, Middlesex Regiment (Duke of Cambridge's Own), 1922-1945 (c)

Made by Hawkes and Son (London) Limited, 1930 (c).

The drum includes the battle honours of the Regiment, up to the end of the First World War. The last honour emblazoned on the shell is Mesopotamia, 1917-1918. The drum is painted yellow, which was a distinguishing 'facing' colour of the Regiment. The Regiment added further battle honours during the Second World War. These have not been applied to this drum, probably because the second battalion was disbanded soon after the war in 1947.
