Nuclear, Biological and Chemical (NBC) warfare suit, Gulf War, 1990-1991
Part of a Mark IV Nuclear, Biological and Chemical (NBC) warfare suit worn by Major C R G Watt, Royal Hussars (Prince of Wales's Own).
NBC suits were worn in the Gulf to provide troops with protection against the effect of various chemical weapons believed to be held by Iraqi forces. This temperate pattern camouflage suit would have been conspicuous in the desert. The wearer's name and blood group are marked on the breast to assist with identification and first aid.
