'radiolocation', recruiting poster, 1941
Lithograph poster by Abram Games, published by H.M. Stationery Office, printed by Greycaine Limited, 1941.
Although the technology had been developed before the war, and the term RADAR (Radio Detection and Ranging) was first used in 1940, the British Army referred to it as 'radiolocation' until 1943. Radar was a valuable tool to detect and track enemy aircraft that threatened Britain.
