Formation badges, Headquarters, 12th Army, 1945 (c)

The 12th Army was formed in Burma under Allied Land Forces South East Asia (ALFSEA) on 28 May 1945 to replace the 14th Army which was withdrawn from that theatre. Its formation badge included the dragon, a symbol of power in Burmese mythology. The red and black background of the badge are traditional command colours.
