Model AEC Matador 10 ton 4x4 medium artillery tractor, no date
The Matador was a heavy 4x4 built by the Associated Equipment Company (AEC) for British and Commonwealth Forces during the Second World War.
Introduced in 1939, over 9,000 Matadors were built in total. Some went to the Royal Air Force, but the majority were for the British Army. It was most commonly used to tow the 5.5 inch medium gun and the QF 3.7 inch anti-aircraft gun, but it was also adapted for other roles such as carrying a 25-pounder gun.
As the model show, the Matador has a flat fronted cab and gently curved roof. It has a flat load carrying area covered by canvas.
