Military tenor drum, Auxiliary Territorial Service, 1941 (c)

Made by Premier Drums.

Over 250,000 women served in the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) during World War Two. They served in many overseas theatres of operation as well as in the defence of the United Kingdom, particularly in Anti-Aircraft Command. ATS women also served as drivers, orderlies, store women and cooks.

This drum is decorated with the heraldic emblazonment showing the cap badge of the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) and seven-flamed grenade badge with "UBIQUE" motto of the Royal Artillery.It also has the later addition of the title of 484 (Mixed) Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment, Royal Artillery (TA) which was a post-war unit of the Territorial Army based in Willesden.
