Sweetheart brooch of the Duke of Cambridge's Own (Middlesex Regiment), 1918 (c)

Small, jewelled representations of regimental and unit badges of this type were often exchanged by serving soldiers and their wives and girlfriends. Some were used as 'good luck' charms, intended to keep a loved one safe from harm.
