Side drum used by 3rd Battalion, The King's African Rifles, 1952 (c)-1960

Made by George Potter and Company, Potter's Corner, Aldershot.

Between 1952 and 1956 the 3rd (Kenya) Battalion, alongside four other battalions of the King's African Rifles, were serving in Kenya during the Mau Mau Rising, an anti-colonial revolt focusing on land ownership and who was to rule Kenya once the British withdrew.
