Copy of Army Orders issued by General Sir Herbert Plumer, commander of Second Army, listing awards for gallantry and devotion to duty in action, 22 September 1918
Listed at the top is the award of a second bar to the Distinguished Service Order (DSO) of Captain (acting Lieutenant Colonel) James Frederick Plunkett, Royal Dublin Fusiliers, attached Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. Plunkett served on the Western Front throughout the First World War seeing action in many important battles, including Mons (1914) and Cambrai (1917). During this time he also received the Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) and the Military Cross (MC) and was mentioned in despatches five times, making him one of the most highly decorated servicemen of the war.
