Burner for a No. 1 portable cooker, or Hydro burner as it was also known, 1945 (c)
The Hydro burner was introduced in 1939 and was in use for the next forty years. The No. 1 portable cooker had a 2 gallon petrol tank that fired a jet of flame along a trench covered by metal plates. The plates had holes which accommodated camp kettles.
This example is related to the Auxiliary Territorial Service and World War Two (1939-1945) and bears a warning label, but this is not original to the burner.
