Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Medal awarded to Sergeant J W Foster, Women's Royal Army Corps, 1977
More than 30,000 of these medals were issued to mark the 25th anniversary of The Queen's accession to the throne. Around 9,000 were awarded to servicemen and women.
During the Jubilee celebrations vast crowds saw The Queen travel in the Gold State Coach to St Paul's Cathedral for a service of thanksgiving on 7 June 1977. Thousands of soldiers took part in the parade.
