Many anti-aircraft units had female personnel. Members of the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) served as gunners, range finders, height-fighters and sound detectors while others operated search lights and radar equipment. This searchlight operator wears a cold weather 'teddy bear coat' and steel helmet.
