Women's Royal Army Corps band, Guildford, 1988 (c)

Photograph, 1988 (c).

Members of the Women's Royal Army Corps (WRAC) band at practice, WRAC Centre, Guildford, 1988 (c).

The WRAC band was formed on 1st July 1949, only five months after the formation of the Corps. A musical arrangement combining 'The Lass of Richmond Hill' and 'Early One Morning' became the Corps' quick march in 1956 and 'Greensleeves' was adopted as the slow march.

From a collection of photographs of the Women's Royal Army Corps band at practice and at a passing out parade, Women's Royal Army Corps Centre, Guildford, 1988 (c).
