Bronze 4.5 in Coehoorn mortar cast by Peter Verbruggen, London, 1782
The Coehoorn mortar, named after the Dutch military engineer, was the smallest of the standard mortars. Peter Verbruggen was one of the Master Founders at Woolwich from 1770. The barrel is engraved with King George III's monogram and the chamber is engraved with the maker's name.
