Members of the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) serving with an anti-aircraft unit during World War Two (1939-1945). The women are wearing 'teddy bear' coats, mittens and tin helmets. Around 56,000 members of the ATS served on these defences alongside men operating search lights, radar equipment and measuring range and height of aircraft.
