Colour Sergeant Cooper (1874-1942), seated with his wife standing next to him, wears a full dress tunic and medals, including the Egyptian Campaigns Medal 1882-89 and the Khedive's Egyptian Star 1882-91. In 1882, 2nd Battalion, Royal Irish Regiment fought in the Egyptian War (1882. The 1st Battalion took part in the 1st Sudan War (1883-1885) in 1884.
