1st Cavalry Division entering Malmedy, 1 December 1918

Photograph, World War One (1914-1918), 1918.

British cavalry enter Malmedy, the first large town across the Belgian-German frontier. In 1919 the town was annexed by Belgium from Germany after a plebiscite agreed to in the Treaty of Versailles (1919) was implemented.
