Canal bridge on the Peronne-Bapaume road, 1916
Photograph, World War One, Western Front (1914-1918), 1916.
Remarkably, the bridge remained in place despite being badly damaged by shelling during the Battle of the Somme (1916). The entire landscape around Peronne was devastated by artillery bombardments from both sides.
From an album of 26 photographs, showing scenes on the Western Front.
