Tobacco jar, 1900 (c)
Carlton Ware by Wiltshaw and Robinson Ltd,. Stoke-on-Trent, 1900 (c).
This jar is decorated with portraits of Lord Roberts, Lord Kitchener and Sir Redvers Buller, leading British generals of the Boer War (1899-1902). They are flanked by two kneeling infantrymen. It is a typical example of the mass produced goods, celebrating Queen and Empire, that were produced in the late Victorian era.
