Soldiers retrieving supplies dropped by air in Burma, 1944 (c)
Photograph, World War Two, Far East, 1944 (c).
Soldiers of No. 2 Auxiliary Group, 5th Brigade (Gold Coast) 81st West African Division, gather supplies dropped by parachute into their jungle base. West African units were unique in their ability to move without transport or pack animals, 'toting' all their needs on men's heads.
From an album of 36 photographs compiled by Captain E B Mee (later Major), Royal Signals, 81st West African Division, Burma, 1944-1945.
