Soldiers of 81st West African Division with a canoe, Burma, 1944 (c)
Photograph, World War Two, Far East (1941-1945), 1944 (c).
Two soldiers consult a map before setting off on a river with a canoe full of supplies. Although the use of air transport to move troops and to supply them was crucial during the Burma campaign, rivers were also used to move material.
From an album of 36 photographs compiled by Captain E B Mee (later Major), Royal Signals, 81st West African Division, Burma, 1944-1945.
