Photograph, World War Two, Far East, 1944 (c).

An Indian soldier builds a shelter in the Burmese jungle. The sleeping platform is made of lengths of bamboo and is risen off the ground in order to keep its occupant dry and safe from the many insects and snakes common in the jungle.

From an album of 36 photographs compiled by Captain E B Mee (later Major), Royal Signals, 81st West African Division, Burma, 1944-1945.
