A 3-inch mortar of 102 Mortar Battery in action at Makyazi, Burma, 1944 (c)

The three-inch mortar was the standard British mortar from the late 1920s to the late 1960s. In this image two West African soldiers of 81st Division muzzle-load and fire the weapon while a British officer looks on.
