The staff, probably locally made, bears the Hong Kong Military Service Corps regimental badge in nickel plated metal.

Part of the British garrison of Hong Kong the Hong Kong Military Service Corps was a locally recruited unit formed in 1962 from the Hong Kong Chinese Training Unit. The unit was disbanded prior to the transfer of Hong Kong's sovereignty to China in 1997.
