A British Challenger 1 tank in Bosnia, 1996

British troops served in Bosnia in 1995-1996 with the NATO-led Implementation Force (IFOR). This was responsible for implementing the Dayton Peace Accords which ended the Bosnian War.

The Challenger 1 was the British Army's main battle tank during the 1980s and 1990s. It was eventually replaced by the Challenger 2.

One of 60 photographs of the deployment of the 1st Queen's Dragoon Guards in Bosnia, June to December 1996, during Operation Resolute for Implementation Force (IFOR).
