Napkin ring, Machine Gun Corps, Major Charles Douglas Jay DSO, 1917-1918
Silver, semi-circular napkin ring, made by 'D', possibly Dewsnap and Company, hallmarked London 1917-1918, with riveted bronze Machine Gun Corps badge of crossed Vickers machine guns surmounted by a crown, inscribed on flat side: 'Major C.D. JAY. D.S.O. October 1917'.
Major Charles Douglas Jay served with the Royal Sussex Regiment and the Machine Gun Corps during World War One (1914-1918). He was awarded the Distinguished Service order in 1917.
