General Service Medal 1962-2007, with clasp for 'Lebanon', Signaller D A Smith, 30 Signal Regiment
Circular silver medal with the crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the inscription, 'Elizabeth II Dei Gratia Regina F.D.', on the obverse. On the reverse, the inscription, 'For Campaign Service'. The medal ribbon is purple with green edges with a silver clasp, 'Lebanon'.
This General Service Medal was introduced in 1964, rewarding service in campaigns from 1962 until 2007. The clasp for 'Lebanon' was awarded to service personnel participating in the multinational peace-keeping force deployed to Beirut in 1982, following Israel's invasion of Lebanon in 1982.
