'View of Gornji Vakuf from 'B Coy 2 R ANGLIAN base at 11.30 24.7.94'

Watercolour over pencil by Jonathan Wade, 24 July 1994.

This two-page panoramic view was made during the 2nd Battalion, Royal Anglian Regiment's peace-keeping operations in Bosnia. 'B' (Leicestershire) Company was deployed alongside the rest of the battalion to Bosnia in April 1994 as part of the United Nations Protection Force (UNPROFOR). Gornji Vakuf, in central Bosnia, witnessed heavy fighting between Croatian and Bosnian forces that led to hundreds of deaths. Most of the dead were Bosnian Muslim civilians killed by Croatian shelling.
