Silver Boer War Tribute Medal presented to Trooper George Caird, 20th Company, Imperial Yeomanry, by the Burgh of Arbroath

The Boer War (1899-1902) was notable for the number of civilian soldiers who volunteered for service in South Africa. There was immense civic pride in their achievements and many towns and cities issued medals such as this to mark their service.
