Gold Boer War Tribute Medal presented to Private J Dudgeon, Princess Louise's (Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders), from the inhabitants of Law, 4 June 1901

The Boer War (1899-1902) was notable for the number of civilian soldiers who volunteered for service in South Africa. There was immense civic pride in their achievements and many towns and cities issued medals such as this to mark their service.
