SS Ranchi sailing from India to England, 1937

Captain (later Major) Wynne Howes-Roberts, 1st Battalion 13th Frontier Force Rifles, travelling home to England on furlough, 1937-1938.

SS Ranchi, the Peninsular and Oriental (P&O) Steam Navigation Company ocean liner, on the voyage back to England from Bombay. The SS Ranchi was launched in 1925 and served with the Royal Navy during World War Two (1939-1945) and was eventually scrapped in 1953.

From an album of 347 photographs compiled by Captain (later Major) Wynne Howes-Roberts, 1st Battalion 13th Frontier Force Rifles, India and UK, 1936-1937.
