After the British formally separated Burma from India in 1937 the 20th Burma Rifles (part of the Indian Army) were allocated to Burma and renamed the Burma Rifles. The regiment was mainly recruited from the Karen, Kachin and Chin hill tribes.
From an album compiled by Lieutenant J F Warren of the Burma Rifles whilst escorting the Sino-Burma boundary commission November 1935 until May 1936 in the Wa states.
