'A bad casualty for the British Field Hospital after the hard battle at the Modder (February 13)', 1900

A casualty on a stretcher being put into a wagon. British medical facilities in South Africa were more effective than in previous campaigns. 28 field ambulances, five stationary hospitals and 16 general hospitals were established to deal with casualties.

From a box of 89 stereoscopic cards entitled, 'South African War through the Stereoscope Pt 2 Vol 1', published by Underwood and Underwood, and produced by Works and Sun Sculpture Studios, 1900 (c).
