British soldiers from the 6th Division aboard railway wagons. Trains played an important part in the campaign and were used to move men and supplies around the vast distances of South Africa. The 6th Division was commanded by Lieutenant-General Sir Thomas Kelly-Kenny (1840-1914) and took part in the Relief of Kimberley and the battles of Paardeberg, Poplar Grove and Driefontein.
From a box of 89 stereoscopic cards entitled, 'South African War through the Stereoscope Pt 2 Vol 1', published by Underwood and Underwood, and produced by Works and Sun Sculpture Studios, 1900 (c).
