Portrait of a woman, thought to be of Susannah Eveleigh, wife of William Eveleigh, 1785 (c)

Miniature portrait in watercolour on ivory, unknown artist, 1785 (c).

The sitter is shown wearing a blue dress with white muslin collar, with a lace bonnet over her powdered hair. The portrait is in a gilt metal frame suspended from a strap of plaited hair, backed with velvet. A strap fits into the slot at bottom of the miniature, to form a bracelet.

Susannah Eveleigh was Anna Maria Belson's maternal grandmother and Captain Henry Fage Belson's mother-in-law.
