Malayan short parang, or knife, with wooden scabbard, 1955 (c)
This captured equipment illustrates the type of kit used by the Communist Terrorists (CTs) in Malaya during the Emergency (1948-1957). It is an old British Pattern 37 webbing belt strengthened by leather inserts. The leather pouch is probably Chinese in origin and the associated parang knife and scabbard are locally made.
