First field dressing, 1941

Manufactured by S Maw and Sons Limited, London.

Field dressings were issued to soldiers for the initial treatment of wounds sustained in the field. The dressing, comprising a sterilised absorbent pad and bandage, were designed to stem bleeding and protect wounds from immediate infection.
