Sir Thomas Brown of the King's Regiment of Dragoons under the command of Humphrey Bland, recovering his regiment's standard at the Battle of Dettingen in 1743 during the War of the Austrian Succession (1740-1748). The text on this print recounts how Brown was wounded multiple times during the battle as he fought to recover the standard. Brown was knighted on the battlefield by King George II.
