A detachment of the Northern Nigeria Regiment on parade, 1907 (c)

The main role of the Northern Nigeria Regiment, part of the West African Frontier Force, was to guard the colonies of Nigeria, Gold Coast, Sierra Leone and Gambia against possible French colonial expansion in the territories bordering them.
From a collection of 41 lantern slides, collected between 1907-1911, by Lieutenant H R S Massy, Royal Artillery, attached to the Northern Nigeria Regiment.
